During my first visit to Asia, I arrived in Kuala Lumpur then traveled down to Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Also spelled Jogjakarta, this city had much to offer. I spent several days visiting the old temples, palaces, gardens, and markets in Jogjakarta and the surrounding area of central Java. 19 Photos
Sri Lanka is home to many exotic animals. During my visit, my guide and I stopped at several places where wildlife gather including two national parks and areas with large groups of peafowl or monkeys. Additionally, several of the hotels I stayed at were teaming with colorful birds. The highlight of the trip were the large herds of wild elephants Minneriya National Park. 22 Photos
While in China, I had the opportunity to spend many weekends in Beijing. This enabled me to spend many days exploring the city and touring its historic landmarks and many places of interest. Included in this gallery are images from the Forbidden City, various temples, and even a remote section of the Great Wall. 24 Photos
For several months, I had taken up residence in Langfang, a "small" Chinese city of over 4 million inhabitants halfway between Beijing and Tianjin. During this time I took in what Langfang had to offer, and many pictures. 13 Photos
In 2016 I took a week long road trip through southern and central Sri Lanka. Along the way, my guide and I visited several cities and landmarks. I spent the most time around Dambulla, Kandy, and in the highlands then went south to Galle. (21 photos)
While in Hong Kong, I arranged a day trip to Macau and spent the day walking the narrow streets and visiting the points of interest, taking in the colorful architecture and sights of the old city. These included the famous ruins of St. Paul's and the area around the Monte Fort. 13 Photos
While I was in China, I spent an extended weekend in Hong Kong. I spent much of my time either around Sheung Wan and the Soho District, in walking distance from my hotel, as well as visiting the different points of interest around the city. 12 Photos
When I visited Indonesia, I spent several days in Bali and northwestern Lombok. In these photos are some of the many rice fields, coconut groves, villages and temples I saw during my stay.
In 2016 I visited Malaysia. To escape the sweltering humidity of Kuala Lumpur, I booked a trip to the Cameron Highlands in northeast Malaysia. My guide and I left early to journey up the steep and narrow road then through the outworldly tea plantations. We stopping frequently for food and photos before making our way back.
